Enfield Today is an independent news and information site for the London Borough of Enfield. We work from public records, we link to them, and we have no connection to the council or to anyone we write about.
The borough
Enfield Town at the centre, with Bush Hill Park, Enfield Highway and Enfield Wash; Southgate, Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green, Oakwood and Cockfosters in the south west; Edmonton, Upper Edmonton, Ponders End and Freezywater in the east. The borough runs from the green belt and Trent Park at one edge to the Lea Valley at the other, and those two edges are not much alike. We cover the whole of it and we use the local name rather than the borough name wherever we can.
What we cover
Enfield Council’s planning register and committee papers, licensing notices, police.uk crime data, HM Land Registry sold prices, Food Standards Agency hygiene ratings, Environment Agency flood warnings for the Lee, Turkey Brook, Salmons Brook and Pymmes Brook, and company filings in The Gazette. We also maintain reference pages on bins, parking and council tax bands and check them against the council’s own published information.
Our standard
Every fact carries a link to its source, so you can read the original instead of taking our word for it. Where a record is unclear, we say it is unclear rather than choosing the reading that makes the better story. We write in plain British English and we do not publish press releases as though they were reporting.
Tips and corrections
Email hello@enfieldtoday.co.uk. Tips about a planning application, a road closure, an opening or a community event are welcome and treated in confidence, and corrections are made quickly and noted on the page.
