Capel Manor has confirmed its grotto for 12 and 13 December 2026 at £6 a child on top of admission, plus a dogs-only Santa Paws day on 19 December.

One Enfield grotto has firm 2026 dates and a firm price. One has its 2026 page up but no dates and no prices yet. One has run for three years straight and has not listed anything for this December. Here is where each stands on 6 September, and what to do about it.

Capel Manor Gardens: confirmed, 12 and 13 December

Christmas at Capel Manor Gardens runs Saturday 12 to Sunday 13 December 2026, 10am to 4pm, with last admission at 3.30pm. The gardens are at Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield EN1 4RQ, less than five minutes from junction 25 of the M25, and parking is free.

Santa sits in a grotto in the 17th century Manor House, which opens to the public for the weekend. Children get photo opportunities and a gift to take home.

The pricing has a catch worth understanding before you plan around it. The grotto is £6 per child on top of gardens admission, and it cannot be bought on its own. Admission is:

Ticket Price
Adult (16+) £10
Concession (60+, students) £9
Child (2 to 15) £6
Family (2 adults, up to 3 children) £30
Under 2s Free
Friends of Capel Manor Included in membership

Booking fees are added online, and the gardens say pre-booking gets you both guaranteed entry and the discounted rate. Their own warning on grotto tickets is blunt: “Santa’s Grotto traditionally sells out! Availability is limited and must be pre-booked in advance, operating on a first come first served basis.”

Admission also covers a free Christmas trail sheet from reception, a sweet treat for children who finish it, Christmas crafts, a postcard to send to Santa, and the mini zoo with its daily animal talks.

Two things to check. The gardens’ general visit page says “Our Gardens are closed on weekends between November to March”, so 12 and 13 December is a special weekend opening rather than a normal one. And that same page prices a child ticket at 3 to 15 while the Christmas page prices it at 2 to 15. If your child is two, book online rather than paying at the gate, and take the confirmation.

Santa Paws, for dogs, on 19 December

Capel Manor also runs a dogs-only version, Santa Paws, on Saturday 19 December 2026, 10am to 4pm, last admission 3.30pm. It is £5 per dog plus the usual gardens admission, must be pre-booked, and cannot be bought separately either. Each dog meets Santa Paws and the elves and gets a Christmas gift and a treat bag. Dogs stay on a lead throughout and are not allowed in the mini zoo.

Christmas Wonderland, Crews Hill: page live, tickets imminent

The big ticketed one is Christmas Wonderland at Springtime Nurseries, Cattlegate Road, Crews Hill, Enfield EN2 9EE. Its 2026 page is up, and it says tickets go on sale in early to mid September 2026, which is now. Prices on the page still read “£ TBC” for both children and adults, so we have nothing to quote yet.

The rules are already published, and several of them will spoil a trip if you miss them:

  • It is 100 per cent pre-booked. There is no box office on site any more. The organisers say that arriving without a ticket means you are unlikely to get in.
  • Every booking needs at least one child ticket and one supervising adult ticket. Single tickets are not sold.
  • Babies under 12 months ride free on a parent’s lap, but only if the booking also includes a paying child, and the free baby does not get a toy.
  • Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your slot. The time on your ticket manages the flow of the day rather than being an exact boarding time.
  • No pets, guide dogs excepted, and even guide dogs cannot go on the Santa Express train ride, into the reindeer attraction or into the toy shop. The organisers ask guide dog owners to get in touch before booking.
  • No bringing your own food. Food and drink are sold on site.
  • Exchanges only, no refunds, and only up to 48 hours before your day, through ticketsource.co.uk/my-bookings or on 0333 666 3366.

The experience itself is a train ride from a station platform through a reindeer forest and animated scenes to Santa’s Ice Kingdom, where Santa greets each carriage, finishing at the elves’ toy shop where each child chooses a gift. Every family or group gets its own carriage. Parking is free in front of the main entrance, with an overflow car park 300 yards away for busy days.

No event dates are published yet, only the site’s general opening hours of 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Join the mailing list at the bottom of their page if you want the on-sale alert, because this one historically fills up.

Forty Hall: nothing listed yet, but it has run three years running

Forty Hall, Forty Hill EN2 9HA, has put on a Santa event every December since at least 2023, and its box office shows nothing for December 2026 as of 6 September. It is worth watching rather than writing off. The pattern:

  • 2025: “Father Christmas and his elves at Forty Hall”, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December, slots at 10.30am, 11am, 11.30am and 1pm. £12 per child plus a £1.50 booking fee, £2 per additional adult, one adult free per three children. For ages 4 to 10, held inside the house, with a wrapping room, a post box for wish lists and a gift for each child.
  • 2024: “Santa’s Woodland Grotto”, presented by JTT Events, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December, half-hour slots from 10am. £15 per child with adults free, or £40 for a family bundle of three children. It was moved indoors on the day because of the weather, which tells you something about booking an outdoor grotto in December.
  • 2023: “Breakfast with Santa”, 17 December.

On that pattern, a 2026 listing would be expected around the second weekend of December, appearing in the Forty Hall box office some weeks beforehand. If you are already going to the Forty Hall Christmas Fayre on 28 and 29 November, that is a good moment to ask at reception.

Getting the timing right

The confirmed dates cluster tightly. Capel Manor’s grotto weekend is 12 and 13 December, Santa Paws is the following Saturday, and Forty Hall’s has landed on the second weekend of December twice in three years. If you want two of them, book Capel Manor first, because it is the one with published prices and a stated history of selling out.

For driving to any of these, Capel Manor and Forty Hall are both off the A10 in the north of the borough and Crews Hill is between them, so check our roadworks page for A10 and Bullsmoor Lane work before you set off. All three sites have their own free parking, so our parking page matters only if you are combining a grotto with a trip into Enfield Town.
